How Can I Help?
As a Clinical Psychologist, my role is to reduce psychological distress and help to facilitate and develop psychological well-being. This is done by using evidence based psychological therapies such as behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and systemic therapy.
Psychological assessment
On receiving your referral I will arrange to meet with you in order to discuss your concerns and carry out a psychological assessment.
I use the information from the assessment to develop ideas about the problem, and develop a formulation which is shared understanding of your problem; how it's developed and how it's maintained.
Psychological intervention
If we agree that it would be helpful to enter into treatment we will discuss the appropriate intervention and the likely timescale.
I use a range of psychological techniques whose effectiveness have been rigorously evaluated to facilitate change and bring about improvement. I will match the therapeutic intervention to your specific problems and to you as an individual.
Psychoeducation
I will provide you with information about your problem so that you will have a better understanding of how it is perceived and what research has been done around it.
Report writing
Where necessary I will provide reports for referrers, other services and organisations.
